The LuxeAdapt Firm from Tempurpedic is a unique mattress compared to any other we have tested.  Not as demonstrably firm as the ProAdapt Firm or as plush and comfortable as the LuxeAdapt Soft.  The LuxeAdapt Firm mattress provides a unique balance between luxurious comfort and responsive support.  The APR+ foams use the highest density materials in the Tempurpedic line, and expressed in the firm feel provide a complexity of support you won't find from any other mattress in the market.  This balance is not ideal for side sleepers, and we really only recommend this model to back sleepers, who need that additional support into the small of their back and neck and upper spine.  While this model does provide contouring comfort we found the LuxeAdapt Soft to be a better balance between support and comfort.  Overall, this is a great mattress targeted to a very specific type of sleeper.  

During the testing process, we noticed that side sleepers responded unfavorably to the mattress.  While it provides conformance and pressure relief this specific mattress is firm to the point of distraction.  As a back sleeper we had nearly the opposite feedback.  Great support into the lower back and the contour of your lumbar, and exceptional push back and support.  As a stomach sleeper this mattress offered amazing comfort, but it was clear throughout the testing phase that back sleepers had the best reaction to the LuxeAdapt Firm.  If you are a majority back sleeper and looking to improve your comfort in this position this mattress is designed for and caters to this specific type of sleeper.

The LuxeAdapt Firm offers all of the innovations you could want from a new Tempurpedic mattress.  These features include the cool to the touch cover, integrated dual cover SmartClimate system, and Tempurpedic's highest density APR+ foams.  The biggest change from the ProAdapt line is the addition of the APR+ foams vs the standard APR foams used in the Pro line.  The higher density materials provide a more on top of the mattress feel, slightly faster reacting foams, and also increase the life of the mattress.  The LuxeAdapt collection feels more luxurious and offers unparalleled support in the LuxeAdapt Firm model.  

The Luxe Adapt Firm during testing had mixed feedback from those testing the product.  Dramatic differences in opinion were driven by the specific sleep position of the tester.  As we discussed in the overview, we found that back sleepers experienced dramatically improved sleep with specific notes of support in the lower back and neck and upper spine.  The LuxeAdapt Firm offers less pressure relief to those sleeping on their side or stomach.  While this mattress can still be comfortable for those sleeping in that position, we recommend the LuxeAdapt Soft or the LuxeBreeze Soft for those looking to compromise with their spouse.  These model offer plush comfort while still providing push back and support.  

The LuxeAdapt Firm is one of the most supportive mattresses we have ever tested.  A responsive top layer is met with resistance from the supportive APR+ foams underneath.  We found that the contouring layers of the mattress provide more give than expected, but the incredibly high density support layers provide more push back than is desirable in a side sleeping position.  We loved the way the mattress micro adjusted to the contours of our lower back. This support was apparent in a stomach sleeping position as well.  While we love the support of the bed what it has in this category it lacks in the comfort side of the equation.  If incredibly strong support is your focus this mattress delivers.  

Tempurpedic has a long history of delivering exceptional durability in their mattresses.  The density of the foams used in the LuxeAdapt line are the best out of the entire Tempurpedic collection, and will deliver the longest lasting models in their lineup.  These foams due not oxidize and crumble apart like cheaper foams used in a bed in a box or even some luxury mattresses.  A realistic expectation for the LuxeAdapt Firm is 15-17 years of comfort life.  This mattress can and will stand the test of time.  

Luxe is for luxury and the price point of the LuxeAdapt Firm reflects this categorization.  Value is always a relative term as it reflects both the price of the product as well as the benefits that the product provides such as improved sleep quality, consistency of the feel, and overall life span of the mattress.  Overall, the LuxeAdapt Firm offers exceptional value when the full scope of the investment is considered as part of the purchase.     

We consider the LuxeAdapt Firm to be a specialty mattress for a specific type of sleeper.  For those looking for the most supportive feel with the legendary conformance and pressure relief of a Tempurpedic bed, this mattress provides the perfect solution.  Overall, we recommend this mattress with the caveat that you should strongly consider how you sleep ahead of selecting this model.  Back sleepers will love this bed, but other types of sleeping positions could struggle to adjust to the unique feel of the bed.
